Jokes can come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes, it takes several minutes and a few different plot twists before we get to the punchline. Other times, they are as simple as a couple of seconds of gibberish. On top of that, what constitutes something funny is an area of debate which depends on personal taste.

There is no pleasing everyone with any joke that is ever created. We all have different personalities, upbringings and influences that bring a unique sense of humor to the table that will respond in a variable way, depending on the stimuli. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

This philosophy is also something which we can apply to memes. They are created by all sorts of people, and consumed by an even more diverse demographic. We might not get all of them, but it's not the end of the world. At least we broadened our experience by seeing what's out there.
